The year started with a Nations2Nations Celebration in Cape Town where we had 350 drums played at the same time calling the young people from Africa to go and be a blessing in the nations. The response was amazing as people committed themselves to leave their comfort zone and obey God’s call. I’m writing this update in India where we are getting ready for our Nations2Nations conference in Cochin this week where we’ll have alumni from our 4 previous schools coming together with the current school.

We’ve already had training happening in 3 states in India and the current N2N school will send a team to Uganda. It is wonderful to see the initiative these young leaders are taking to mobilize Indians to go to the nations. Please continue to pray for us as we are also getting ready for the upcoming Nations2Nations Conference in Recife, Brazil from June 1st-8th 2014 ahead of the Soccer World Cup.

The momentum is building up and they’re expecting up to 700 people to join us in Brazil.

What has started as a little dream in Jeffreys Bay in 2001 is becoming a mighty wave with new missionaries from the most unlikely places putting their hand up to go to the most difficult places that are unreached. Nations2Nations has helped sparked this new wave with people from every nation going to every nation. Last week we had our 2nd Celebration in Battambang, Cambodia where we had more than 20 nations gathered.

In a culture where you don’t invite people to the front for prayer, we’ve seen people spontaneously coming to the front sharing how they were deeply touched by God in seeing their dignity restored which has set off people praying for one another as they encountered God. At the end of the week teams were commissioned to go to Laos, Vietnam and Myanmar. We also saw University students coming to Christ during an afternoon gathering where they were enthralled by the cultural expressions from New Zealand, South Africa and the young people from Cambodia. They were challenged by one of the N2N speakers from Iran who gave his testimony in how he became a follower of Christ.

The highlight for me was to meet one of our young people, Samuel Mellow who has grown up in an impoverished community in Cape Town and who has come to Christ though our youth outreach in the City, finishing up his 9 month Bible course in Cambodia as he’s preparing to go to Laos as a missionary. Please continue to pray for us as we are also getting ready for the upcoming Nations2Nations Conference in Recife, Brazil from June 1st-8th 2014 ahead of the Soccer World Cup. The momentum is building up and they’re expecting up to 700 people to join us in Brazil.

Realization of a Dream – N2N Geneva Celebration 2013

Europe, Events, N2N Comments Off on Realization of a Dream – N2N Geneva Celebration 2013

by June Shu

A legendary city
Geneva, one of world’s most important cities, with the presence of numerous international organizations, also known as a global city and financial center. Such a crucial city has a unique history. Before John Calvin and his friends started the famous reformation in 1530s, Geneva was just a wild town. However, a nation was built from the same town. In those days, the reformers were preaching the gospel to individuals, teaching the citizens how to live biblically and encouraging accountability for individuals and the leadership in spheres of society, so that the teaching would not be theoretical but applied in all areas of life. [1]
Almost 600 years have passed by, what took place in Geneva during Calvin’s time has greatly impacted Switzerland, Europe and the rest of the world till today. Geneva became a legendary city where God once touched and shaped, a city that embraces the nations and for the nations to learn from.

N2N Celebrations
We have been dreaming about having N2N Celebration in Geneva for many years. The day finally has come! 3rd to 9th of Nov, we had the privilege, alongside our hosting base YWAM Burtigny, to see the dream realized!
6th Nov 7:00pm, with UofN students and staff from YWAM Burtigny, YWAM Biarritz and YWAM Grimerud as well as local Christians and pastors, we started our first celebration event at La Rive Droite church which located in the downtown of Geneva city. The opening worship was led by local Christians, both in French and English. Then Benny Prasad, the most traveled Indian musician and YWAMer shared his powerful testimony and performance. The following message giving by Edwin Fillies was about reconciliation and deep connections with God and the body of Christ. After the message, many people were engaging in responding to God asking for healing and releasing forgiveness… After the sobering came the joy! The event ended with calling out different nationalities to dance before the Lord and everyone, which became many people’s highlight of that night.
8th evening, at another church in Geneva, Church for the Nations, we had the second N2N celebration! Daniel Appa shared a message of living out a radical obedience to God after Benny Prasad’s performance and testimony. He challenged the audience by asking why so few Christians have stories like Benny’s. Then he kept elaborating that the radical obedience to God is the key to live an extraordinary life, also is the greatest adventure known to mankind. After his message, many young people came to the front asking for prayer, repenting and committing themselves to the radical obedience lifestyle.

For two afternoons (8th and 9th), YWAM teams and local churches had outreaches together in the city! One afternoon, one team prepared balloons and flowers with scriptures tied on them, and gave them out with smiles to strangers walking on the streets in a light rain. Many people were very friendly and gladly received the blessing. Another team waited on God for specific location and people to share Jesus with. Afterwards they drew what they got from God on a piece of paper and ended up talking to the exact attributes of the people at the exact location which God revealed to them! When asked why chose them to talk to, this team showed them the piece of paper and explained how God loved them and He can reveal Himself to people! They had a great time sharing about this living God.
The following afternoon was sunny and beautiful. With the pastor of Eglise Evangelique Apostolic church, some of us went to an international community.  Benny Prasad and a French rap team from YWAM Nyon performed for the kids there. The rest went out into the streets for evangelism. Some teams prepared free coffee, tea and hot chocolate for people and it’s a great way to start conversations. One team were holding “free hug” signs standing in front of a shopping mall. Many came to receive hugs. When asked why doing it, they got to share with them about God’s love!

Greater things are yet to come
How fitting it is to celebrate the nations in the city of the nations! After the wonderful week of N2N Celebration Geneva, we are expecting greater things to take place in the city in the near future! Thank God for realizing the N2N Geneva dream! We are continually dreaming with God for many other cities in the world to bring N2N celebration there.

Celebration of the Nations: October 7th 2012

Events, N2N Comments Off on Celebration of the Nations: October 7th 2012

Last night we saw history being made during the Celebration of the Nations  at the Cathedral of Lausanne. This is the biggest church building in Switzerland and it’s foundation was laid in 1170. In the beginning of the evening I was thinking of how Christianity shaped Switzerland and Europe and how it impacted many nations with God’s word, including my country, South Africa. Today this nation is in need of an awakening and Europe’s only hope is to be re-evangelized. What was about to happen could not have been imagined in any one’s wildest dreams; nations from Africa, the South Pacific, Asia and Latin America worshiping in unity and crying out to God, in this ancient place with their European brothers and sisters, for a mighty revival to come and for a new wave of missionaries to be sent to the nations.

The cathedral was filled to capacity with some people standing on the sides. While the drums were beating many young people walked in with the flags from different nations and offered up prayers in many different languages. The place was lit up when our Island Breeze team made their appearance in their full Polynesian indigenous outfits dancing and offering up their songs and rhythms to Jesus. The cameras and videos came out to capture these moments where East met West, North met South, Indigenous met Modern, Young met Old and where Ancient met Contemporary. A Reformed Pastor friend of mine summarized it afterwards when he said that never in the history of this 800 plus year old cathedral have the feet of Polynesians trodden the floors of this cathedral and worshiped the Lord. The worship was incredible and the call to release 1000 Swiss French missionaries to go and be a blessing was powerful.

The evening concluded with people weeping as they prayed for the nations in many languages on a world map of 20 meters by 15 meters. For many it was for the first time to walk on such a large map and to go from one nation to the next and pray for God’s kingdom to come. This was such a a demonstration of unity in diversity and the impact of this Celebration will be seen in Switzerland and the nations … from the nations to the nations.

The next Nations2Nations celebrations will be in Geneva November 12th-16th. Can you please continue to pray that many will be raised up to love the nations as God loves them and become ministers of reconciliation.

Panama – Cuba – Mexico

Events, N2N, N2N Latin America Comments Off on Panama – Cuba – Mexico
Panama City, Panama – Aug 14, 2012 - After 17 days of sweltering heat in Cuba, we are rejoicing and relaxing in a wonderful little apartment with a gorgeous view in Panama.  God did amazing things during our time there.  The 2nd Radical Obedience School in Cuba lasted 10 days with 32 students including an Ecuadorian, 6 Bolivians, & 3 Chinese.  Both Steve and Amelia taught multiple sessions in the school while Amelia also led a small discipleship group of young ladies that included a Bolivian, Chinese, and 3 Cubans.  Amelia translated some of Steve’s sessions and of other teachers Bram from Holland and Abner from the USA.  We could see much transformation occurring in both the hearts and minds of these emerging young leaders.  Steve was also able to share and minister a few times in different churches in Havana to bring encouragement and teaching through a prophetic word from God about Cuba from Isaiah 60.  We are very thankful for your support to help us be a part of the change God is bringing to Cuba.  It hasn’t been easy work, but it is definitely worth while and making a difference.  We have made some even bigger plans for 2013 and beyond.

Steve teaching and Amelia translating into Spanish for the 32 students from Cuba, Bolivian, Ecuador, and China.

We are mostly resting and recovering at the moment with a little site seeing thanks to our wonderful host, the House family.  But, we have some very exciting plans for our time of ministry here in Panama.  3 Brazilians from Fortaleza are also here with us.  We will all go to an Indigenous village to minister one day and have a few different Indigenous & Latin churches to speak and minister in on other days.  On Saturday, we will be doing a leadership seminar for Indigenous peoples at the University of Panama that will include Christians and non-Christians. The chief of one of the main tribes of Panama will be a participant.  Please continue to pray for us during this very strategic time of opportunity for both now and future work here. We finish here on the 20th with Amelia going to Mexico City while the Brazilians and Steve return home to Brazil.

Thanks & blessings to everyone.  Watch for a more complete report later!
